- Remember not to share PHI, PII or HIPAA-protected information. Doing so may be a violation of your agency’s policies and could be detrimental to the individuals who are linked to that information. There are plenty of ways to experiment with chatbots safely and effectively without sharing this information
- Choose a chatbot. Access Microsoft Copilot or ChatGPT through your web browser. Or do a web search for other AI-based Chatbots, LLMs or services that utilize these amazing new technologies.
- Start prompting! Ask the chatbot questions. Treat it like your personal (digital) graduate assistant. Ask it to create a fictional version of a document that you use frequently in your work and then ask it questions about that document. Ask for suggestions about how you can improve some task that is a part of your job. Ask it for lists, bullet points, paragraphs, summaries, or narratives about anything related to your job. The key here is to be curious and keep typing questions (“prompts”) so that you can begin to understand what these tools can do for you in your work.
